Review of Jabari: The Crescent Falls Royals by Mrs. Charity Shané

“…the truly best day of my life was when I walked into Just Tattoos on my first day of work and he was in the office. He has shown me that true love has no bounds. I’m a better version of myself with him and together we are kismet, truly meant to be.”

star read

I had to let this one sink in for a little bit. There were so many heavy subjects that this read touched, eventhough in some cases this was brief. The ones that stood out to me the most were addiction, child neglect, grooming, mental, physical and sexual abuse. So if you decide to read this beautifully written story, please be mindful of your triggers.

Jabari’s story was tempered by community and found family. The Lords stepping in to raise this young man, seeing that his grandparents needed help. Mrs. Shané shined light on the positive sides of what gangs contribute to their community. Changing the narrative and I truly loved that.

Kinnidy’s story was one of survival, strength and trust. With all that she had survived and been through, she still had her light and trusted in the kindness of strangers. Damaged, but not broken.

This read had me in my feelings tough, as I suspected 🤧. But when they got together they seemed to heal the parts of their inner-child that were broken and damaged at the hands of those that should’ve protected them. And the pure love they had for each other and the family that Kinnidy found…

Really beautiful story 🥰…

Wondering who will be next as well 👀
