“Tu es tout ce dont j’ai besoin dans ma vie (You are everything I need in my life)”
She’s an Anchor by Mrs. Tember Sapphire
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
star read
She’s an Anchor the story about a track star, Marie-Lou (Lou), from Saint Lucia, a French track coach, Alexandre (Alex), and how they met.
This read eventhough on the surface sounds like a typical romance/romantic comedy, was anything but. It dealt with some emotional topics like Child abandonment, Secret Baby, and the consequential Trauma responses. On the flip side of this were the more positive aspects like Highly descriptive sexual content 🥰, Familial Support, Reconciliation, Love, and Romance.
I would recommend to all those who love romance, and don’t mind their spice turned up 🤭

A bit of backstory
When Lou visits Monaco for the bachelorette party of her sister, she decides to indulge, for one night, in the talents of a male exotic entertainer… Alex
Audience: Roll that back for me now… Didn’t you say that Alex was a coach?

SheReadsaLot: Bear with me for a moment 😅
So they meet… they have a wonderful night, without exchanging names. Five years pass, without contact, and Lou is preparing for the Summer Games. Alex’s father suffers from a heart attack, and asks him to temporarily fill in his position at his club and coach his team.
Come to find out, Alex was, and still is, somewhat of a rebel and did everything in his power to not do as his father asked of him. Yet one thing he did do, was take his coaching certification courses.
So they meet again, only they are on opposing teams. And he is the coach of Lou’s rival 🤯
Audience: Okay, so now we know a bit about the backstory… And that is nice and all… But what were your thoughts?
SheReadsaLot: Thanks for asking 😁, let me tell you…
How would you deal with being abandoned by your parent and would you forgive that parent that abandoned you as a child?
Mrs. Saphhire tackles this subject in a way that you can understand Alex’s trauma responses to finding out certain things, the way he lives his life, and also why he chooses to handle the parents in this way.
“I remember you being good at following directions. I won’t ask again, Marie- Louise. Get your ass on the edge of that bed and give me the toy. Now.”

When I tell you that there were various times that had me wondering if my A/C was working properly? There were various times. And I loved them all! The chemistry between these two was palpable, and the way that they felt safe to explore primal, rope, and toy play with eachother? 🙌🏾🫶🏾
“Behind us, the rest of our family starts filling in. My sisters, all grinning as they wave at Elle, and my brothers- in- law…”

Lou, is not only the anchor of her relay team, she is also the anchor of her family. However this is also reciprocated. She is surrounded by family that support her, and also tell her when/if she is messing up. The perfect familial support team.
“So, how was your day?” I ask, leaning forward. “I’m all ears.”

What I loved most of all, was the displays of love and romance. This question eventhough it can seem so inconsequential, so simple just gave me all the feels. To have your partner ask this question and be completely in the moment with you, is where the true romance for me lies. These small tidbits, and some grander gestures, could be found all throughout this read. Making this for me a read that I would recommend to all those who love romance, and don’t mind their spice turned up 🤭
