“It was crazy how life could change in the blink of an eye.”
Back in Blood by Mrs. Natisha Raynor
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
star read
Let me start of pre-facing this with saying that I have read a lot of books by Mrs. Natisha Raynor’s pen, Back in Blood is one of her more emotionally darker reads.
It is about Capri Towns (MMC), father to Caprice and Fiancé to Robin.
And Lisa Tate (FMC), soon to be mother of a baby boy, and Fiancée to Sintonio.
They both experience betrayal by those closest to them, and great loss.
Back in Blood is an Urban Fiction story, dealing with the heavier themes of life, like death, grief, violence (gun and physical), domestic violence, sickness, depression and substance abuse.
If you look past the surface of these themes you will find however a story about redemption, healing, forgiveness and finding love again after loss
Would I recommend?
You already know that if I am reading it I like it, so yes, if I’m reviewing after reading it? It is a resounding yes.
‼️This is an emotional read, and your mental health will always come first. So especially with this story, be mindful of your triggers.

SheReadsaLot to Audience: This one is going to be different…A bit more serious…
“…I could now see that everybody went through shit. Some went through worse things than others, but none of us were exempt from hard times and turmoil.”
Back in Blood by Mrs. Natisha Raynor
You are living your life, sometimes not appreciating it for what it is. Blind to what is happening around you, or what others are going through, until you go through it.
And go through it they did.
“A commercial came on … and just that fast, my mood soured.
When most would think about grief, you would think about the grand things that are missing from your life that can be triggering the emotions associated with grief. Most times however it’s the small, simple things, that will trigger your sadness. Grief experienced through unexpected loss diversifies the emotions associated with grief some more. This story deals with the complete spectrum of these emotions rage, feelings of injustice, inadequacy, guilt.
“We all grieve differently, but I understand the effects all the same.”
Back in Blood by Mrs. Natisha Raynor
What I loved about this story, is the way that Mrs. Raynor brought to life two very different ways of coping and the desolation felt with the loss experienced. She described the why of the substance abuse, vengeance seeking, but also the why and the impact of the use of anti-depressants.
“One day, I could be fine, and the next, I’d be a mess.”
Back in Blood by Mrs. Natisha Raynor
Mrs. Raynor also drives home that dealing with loss and grief is a different beast altogether.
“I had to move forward. It was a must. With therapy and dedication, I was sure I could make it happen. Only time would tell.”
Back in Blood by Mrs. Natisha Raynor
Look… I know this is fiction, but this is one of the fictions that is so close to real life that it almost feels autobiographical, notwithstanding some situations (eventhough I have seen some instances of this happening, Robin 👀).
What I took away most from this read was:
Dealing with loss is hard, and it is easy to drown in all your emotions. Grief is an arduous process. You are not, and will not be the same after dealing with unexpected loss. AND you can find joy and love again after loss.
