“Wrong or right, Amir, I still love you,” she says softly. She smirks, her gaze narrowing. “I’m side- eyeing you, though.”
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
star read
Starting of with a recap, before I’m diving all the way in. Because there is a lot!
Loving Amir is about King Amir (son of Fate herself, brother to Aja Bailey, Father to the supernaturals, Warlock, Vampire, and Supernatural hybrid) and his Fated Mate Anora (Witch).
This story follows the main Wintermoon storyline, so this is dark. There is discussion of rape, murder, racism, fascism, war, assault, religion, a whole lot of social commentary, sexual content, healing and love.
In this read the main storyline, fight against dark magic, finally comes to a head.
As you all know, I am writing and posting about it, so YES, I highly recommend. Keep in mind the triggers mentioned, and enjoy this eye-opening ride.

SheReadsaLot to Audience:

SheReadsaLot to Audience: If you are still here, you already know that I will try my best not to… But reading spoilers is a risk you’re taking after this point.
Introducing the Characters
Amir, also known as King Amir, he together with his sisters formed the Bailey Coven, children of Fate. Until his first death he was a warlock. Upon his awakening he also became a vampire with multiple beasts. Shunned by his sisters, longing for famililial relationships, and wanting to combat his loneliness he created supernaturals.
Anora, an artist, bound time traveling witch, acquaintance/friend of Olivia, orphan, and has only one person that she considers her family (Sarah) who she cares for.
Amir has known who Anora is to him for centuries, and now she is finally within reach.
Anora has dreamed about, and created artwork of Amir for years. And she now finally knows that he is real.

So now that the stage is set, let me start this one.
There were a few themes that I wanted to discuss this time. These were the ones that I was grappling the most with in this read. And they were entitlement, selfishness, self-sacrifice and settling, and of course support, and love
Audience to SheReadsaLot: Now what is this? You gon’ lecture us now?
SheReadsaLot: I’m doing what my minds’ tangents lead me to do

Entitlement, Settling, and Self-preservation
One of the things that struck me, and bothered me the most, probably because it is something I see too much of in society, was entitlement.
“Thanks,” I mutter.
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
Then, with a heavy sigh, I add, “I’m guessing I don’t have a choice here, do I?”
Anora had a boyfriend, who left her for greener pastures. And after finding out that *Surprise, Surprise* the greener pastures are not that green. He comes back for her.
And no he doesn’t court her, mediocre as he is, he expects Anora to fall in line, because of his position in society (he has money). No working for what he wants, showing her that he has appreciation for her, actually likes her. No, no… that would be too much to ask.
SheReadsaLot to Audience: And do you want to know where I flipped my lid?
Audience to SheReadsALot: Ma’am we’ve been here before…
SheReadsaLot: You’re right!
Anora let’s him get away with it, to the tune of 200$.
SheReadsaLot to Anora: So that is all you think your dignity is worth? Babygirl why are you settling?

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Don’t forget that she is in a precarious position! Have some compassion!
SheReadsaLot: But why is she in a precarious situation?
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Now Ma’am, you know how society treats women, add to that, that she is a Black woman at that! You saw how those men did Hazel, all because of their entitled mindset, thinking that women are only placed here for their superficial needs, even if they don’t want to fulfil those needs
SheReadsaLot: Ma’am you made several points there, and it isn’t only settling it’s also self-preservation, AND 200$ won’t do *%$&

“Fascism isn’t just creeping into the United States; it’s stomping in with open arms. Politicians spew hatred under the guise of patriotism, and people cheer them on. Rights that humans fought so hard to achieve are being stripped away, and the world seems dangerously close to collapsing in on itself.”
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
SheReadsaLot: All I was trying to say, someone feeling entitled doesn’t mean that they actually deserve it. Feeling entitled to being treated as a human being is one, everyone is owed that. As soon as your entitlement encroaches on another persons agency. You are dead a$$ wrong!
Selfishness
Amir finally has the chance to be with his fated mate, and you know what he does? He watches Anora as she sleeps!!
He lets her remain in a vulnerable position longer than necessary, all because…
SheReadsaLot:

“Fate help me, but I’ve avoided breaking that curse, too. Dragging her back into her full power as a witch isn’t something I’ve done lightly. I should want that for her—and I do—but I hate how much I like her fragility.”
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
SheReadsaLot to Audience: Now if I could’ve gone inside my kindle and snatch this %%$ up? Trust I would’ve..

Let me continue on…
Self-sacrifice
Anora lives in a dilapidated building, and has had the chance several times over to move. However she sacrifices her betterment to stay and take care of Sarah.
Now most would see this as a noble thing, and it can be in some cases.
SheReadsaLot to Audience: Me? In this case? Not really! Why do you ask?
Audience to SheReadsaLot: Do tell!
SheReadsaLot: Sometimes people tend to use self-sacrifice as a form to remain stagnant, or for selfish motives. Being there for others, and being there for yourself is a balancing act (that’s why when flying they advise parents to put their mask on first before tending to their children). YOU have to be OKAY, so you can be there for others. You can’t drink from a dry well.
Audience to SheReadsaLot: You are rambling again!

SheReadsaLot: Thank you for getting me back on track…

However Anora remained so stuck in her circumstances that she didn’t want to see a way out for herself. Sarah wanted to AND had the means to go to an assisted living facility.
Here is where the self-sacrificing became selfish as well. Because it wasn’t like she was visiting Sarah daily, not at all, however it was the only semi-familial connection that she had. And Anora was holding on tightly to that connection.
Audience to SheReadsaLot: So you’ve been ranting a lot, what about the positives?
SheReadsaLot: You’re right! You know who wasn’t selfish?
Audience: Now Ma‘am, WE haven’t read the book!
SheReadsaLot: You should, you know! But it was Hazel, Hazel wasn’t selfish
Support
Hazel has went through a lot! SN: Can’t wait to read her book. And she was still there to support Amir, Anora, and the whole of Wintermoon
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: That Wintermoon lot can be some ungrateful lil’ %$H

Yeah… Come to think of it… Hazel did do a lot of self-sacrificing as well
SheReadsaLot:

Love
There was love throughout, a lot of it! Love for community, love for your partner, love for your neighbors.
“But before I hit the ground, strong arms wrap around me, catching me. Amir. I collapse against his chest, and he holds me tightly, his heartbeat steady under my ear.”
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
And did I tell you that Amir was a hybrid shifter?
“My dragon tongue slides back into my mouth, the sound of it slithering back between my lips obscene and erotic.”
Loving Amir by Mrs. Tessa Stone
Yea…

SheReadsaLot to Audience: Let me reiterate once more. Yes, I HIGHLY recommend this complete series, and highly recommend this read. Keep in mind the triggers mentioned. If you decide to read? Let me know your thoughts and take-aways!
