March! 🫨
As always, before we dive into my week in review..
I’m starting off with a thank you, to all the authors that I’ve read this week. You are so very much appreciated for your time, and dedication to your craft.

I can finally say that I feel more like myself again.
Work didn’t disturb my reading a whole lot 🤭
Some stats about my week
- I’ve read 16 books this week (only posted 15 as 1 was a Beta read)
- from 12 different authors (2 new to me)
- totaling 3.481 pages
- making it around 217.6 pages per book
- and 497.3 pages read per day

Overview of the books read

Week Opener

Starting my week off was Mrs. T’Lyn with the second installment in her Armani Sisters Series. This time we got to know Itali Armani better.
Heartbroken by her teenage boyfriend, Itali has thrown herself into her education, career and business.
Kentrell, teenage boyfriend, comes back home with his fiancee/girlfriend in tow vying for Itali’s love.

Yeah, if Kentrell had anything? It was audacity!!
Once he got himself together I was happy for Itali, before that however?

After my week opener I picked up the, what I thought to be, completed Drew Collins series by Mrs. Granger.
If you know of Mrs. Granger’s works, you know she dedicates her time to building her worlds. First book we got introduced to all the characters, getting a feel for who they are.
I was making my list out of the gate as to who I didn’t like, and steadily kept adding 😂.
And after the set up it was all gas!
Reason why I read them all back to back, and was so proud of myself for waiting until this was completed.

Only to find out that there is a possibility that there will be more books.
Have to say…

This read had everything I enjoyed history, education, hbcu, fantasy, world building, magic, mystery, suspense, romance, characters to dislike, love and hate. Essentially all things great?!

So… I did go a bit, 🤏🏾, overboard with reading, and was in need of a reset.
And here the Recipe for Love series was again to assist me in the form of Mrs. D’Mesha‘s Sinomi & Sevian.
This one dealt with grief of a parent, and shined light on the mental aspects of grief, and how this can impact relationships.
There was however a happy ending for this pairing thanks to Mrs. Mattie’s Recipe for Love.
Mrs. Natisha Raynor had a release as well this week, Winter Nights (Book 8 in the Treacherous Twins series)
This one had me battling myself 😂.
I believe that everyone is allowed their preferences, and nobody should be forced to lower their standards!
The way I was looking at Winter though?
I was like, here Winter has a man that is everything she likes, and is respectful treats her right, only thing missing is the funds.
Had to tell myself, that society tells women, and especially Black Women, all the time that our standards are too high. And here I am judging this young Black woman for exactly the same.
And this is me KNOWING how men can get when their woman outearns them by a lot!
When I tell you that I was disappointed with myself?!

Yeah… let me go and sit with myself some more, because this was eye-opening for me!

There was another (last?) release in the Recipe for Love Series. This time by Mrs. Cocoa, who gave us Aria & Zeke.
This was an office romance about two workaholics!
I loved me some Zeke, he knew what he wanted, and didn’t leave any room for Aria to doubt any of his intentions. He made sure to affirm her, and made clear in his actions and words that he knew who his woman was.
44 pages of pure yumminess.
I picked up the rest of the available books in Mrs. Unique‘s Proceed with Kaution Series.
With Supreme, Milani irked me out the gate. The way she got behind her baby daddy, I felt embarrassed for her. Because there aint no way!
BUT once she loosened the hold that he had over her?

And that’s when Supreme took over the torch of irksomeness, because the way he was gaslighting Milani about Tuda?!

He redeemed himself in my eyes, with the way he treated Milani’s kids though.

And then there was Trap.

Kheoric / Trap got himself in situations that were the direct result of his environment and parents. A predator for a girlfriend (what does a 20 year old woman want with a 15 year old boy?), and hustling at 15 to support his mother.
And then there was Khyana, who had the ultimate trash for family!
Two scarred/battered individuals, find eachother and both work on healing themselves so that they can love eachother better.
This story was triggering, and also healed a part of me that didn’t receive justice.
Thank you Mrs. Unique for giving voice to a story so often untold, and for giving Khyana the justice that those same people often don’t get.

There was another release in the Snowed in Shadow Wolf Creek Collab. It was Mrs. Melody Lynch‘s turn again, with Snowed in with the Outcast Wolf.
Eventhough I was glad that the FMC got herself out of her situation, I was disappointed that she had to be forced out of it. Instead of leaving voluntarily.
And yes I’m aware of the psychology of abuse (because that was what it was), and insecurity and society.
This one read more as literary fiction to me with some romance elements in it.
I picked up the latest release of Mrs. Tina Martin, You Were Made For Me.
About Everly, who finds the one made for her, but her parents and church disapprove in the most disrespectful ways possible.
There is a happy ending… for Everly…
However if you ever find yourself in a situation like this?
BOUNDARIES!!

Mrs. Pynn, had a release for her alter pen Mrs. Cassandra B.
She gave me a FMC that had me…

Loved me some Katrina!
Once action had to be taken, she took action! If she had to be petty, she took it to hell! And she still remained loving!
Ja’Sir took his second chance seriously, and didn’t half step once!!
The kids knew how to advocate for themselves and others.
There was drama, pettiness, FAFO, and so much love.
Mrs. Pynn let me know that Kiala is going to be the next up of the Pearce sisters, so I will be there for that one as well. And I’m mentally preparing for another Aubree Pynn release 😅.
I picked up Mrs. Briyanna Michelle‘s first go round at paranormal romance. And…

A story about a She-Wolf finding her mate.
This was hilariously messy and petty to me, and the nasty was on point as well.
Not giving away much more than that 🤭
Looking forward to reading more of this world.
Mrs. Coya Wilson made a venture into the paranormal world as well!
This reminded me a bit of Twilight (the friendship aspect of it), Blade (dhampirs and being hunted), True Blood (these vampires loved to consume themselves some humans)
And if Mrs. Wilson decides to expound upon this world of hers, I have some recommendations for who might be next..

No pressure though 👀
Week Closer
I picked up the latest release from Mrs. Mona Leah, Sweetest Taste Of Sin With My Ex’s Daddy.
It was less messy than the title implies, because they didn’t get to know eachother prior to their initial meeting, but it was nonetheless Messy!
Some side eye worthy instances…
Looking at you Blair

But Kylo was exactly who I thought he would be based on the quotes I read.
He was dominant without being domineering or aggressive, good head on his shoulder, and didn’t approve (nor possessed) not one bit of F*ck Boy tendencies, even if it’s family.
All in all an enjoyable messy ride.

Hope to see you guys here, again, next week!
