Before we dive into my week in review..
As always, I’ll be taking a small amount of time out to once again express my appreciation for all the authors that I’ve read this week.
Eventhough I am unable to find the exact words to truly express my gratitude for the invested time and dedication to your craft AND your readers. I hope that you know that you are seen, and appreciated!

I fell in a reading slum this week, making it a slower week for me.
Some stats about my week
- I completed 9 (1 not posted) books this week
- by 7 different authors (3 new to me)
- totaling 2.539 pages
- making it around 282.1 pages per book
- averaging 362.7 pages read per day
Opening up my week was Mrs. Kennedy B.
Beyah had a though go at it. Coming home from a career opportunity to surprise her boyfriend, only to find him in the home she has been paying for all this time…
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Let me interupt real quick!!
SheReadsaLot to Beyah: Now Beyah girl? 👀
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Okay, now continue!
So she gets back early, wanting to surprise her boyfriend. Only to be greeted by his pregnant girlfriend.

Of course she needs some time to get over this.
After some weeks she bumps into Dimitri, alias/nickname God, who falls in love/lust at first sight.
Dimitri strikes up a friendship with Beyah, his Bey. Thing is? Dimitri has a “situation” that has been living with him for over a year right now… But ask him? That is not his girlfriend.

So… You know that trend? We listen and we don’t judge?

Mrs. Kennedy B. wrote the story so well that I ended up only side-eyeing him. BUT, Dimitri better take care of Beyah!!

My mood was really affecting my reading. So I went back to the novella length side of the book aisle, and was lucky enough that Mrs. Connie Easton had, had a release.
And an Urban Erotica at that.
I couldn’t even blame Nurina really, because he was coming at her HARD.
You put up a good fight Nurina!

After reading Mrs. Easton’s book I started reading two books, only to put them down. I was again in need for a reset. So instead of venturing into the romance/erotica aisle, I went to the thriller aisle, with an author I knew would deliver. Mrs. Octavia “Unhinhed” Grant.
And deliver she did!!
If there was ever a definition of delusional, Andrew was the true definition of it!
As an introvert and someone who appreciates her personal space, this read had me re-enforcing some of the boundaries that were already in place…
Because…

Mrs. Grant, got my mood all the way back in shape!
Having my mind ready to read the recommendation of my bookish Twin. The Soul Series by Mrs. Gabriela Ge.
I had some slight words for Twin, because the first book had me in my feelings tough! And at the end of this series I was there again, because why o why, didn’t she push harder for me to read this?
This read was gutwrenchily beautiful. Heavy, so so heavy, and triggering, but nonetheless beautiful.
The way Mrs. Ge told their story of trauma, mental health, and how they overcame their obstacles and learn better coping mechanisms? Just brilliant.
I went in depth on this one… However this one has a triggerwarning and spoilers..
Want to read? You can find it here!
When Mrs. Shanel put a post up about her upcoming release I was so happy, because I wanted to read about Fondo and Paige. So I waited, and waited, and waited. To find out that she had already released it 😅.
It was worth the wait though!
HOWEVER! When I reached the end I was like…

I need more!! Like… Is she going to start her own business? Maybe with Dria? Get Charles on his knees? Will they get married? Will they have kids? Will she recover?

I’ll just have to hope that the characters speak to Mrs. Shanel sufficiently enough that a follow up will come.

Week Closer

Closing out my week was Mrs. Lexi Reign with her author debut, The Book of Samael.
This book dealt with a lot of heavy themes, alcohol and substance abuse, suicide attempt, murder, betrayal, and child abuse. I’m sure I left some out, because like I said, there was a lot…
Samael had it rough!
And with an egg donor like that, it was no wonder the things he did and the man he became. (When I say this I’m not discounting personal accountability, however to get there you have to be able to distinguish your innervoice from the outside voices, and you have to actually believe that you can be better).
Eventhough the ‘zon has categorized Mrs. Reign’s authordebut as a mystery romance as well, this read to me fell squarely in the suspense/psychological/urban fiction realm, with a dash of romance for seasoning.
I’m curious to see how Mrs. Reign’s pen will develop over the years.
I read less books this week, meaning that this is it for my week in review this time.
Hope to see you here again next week
