Week in Review – W13

As always before we dive into my week in review, I’ll be taking a small amount of time out to once again express my appreciation for all the authors that I’ve read this week.

I see how much time you invest in engaging with your readers, the (sometimes) long days where you dedicate your energy, your love, your time to your art (and all that comes with it), the support you give to your fellow authors. And even with all you do, it can sometimes feel like it’s still not enough.

I’d like to let you know that your efforts, the way you decide to interact or not interact, what you do and contribute? It is enough, you do enough, you are enough. And

Some stats about my week

  • I completed 9 (1 was a meganovel divided in two parts) books this
    week
  • by 9 different authors (5 new to me)
  • totaling 3.043 pages
  • making it around 338.1 pages per book
  • averaging 434.7 pages read per day

Overview of the Books read

Opening up my week was Mrs. Elle Madearis, who released the last installment in the Snowed in Shadow Wolf Creek Collab.

About Seven and Enzo.

Seven has a parental unit, that really doesn’t give a flying F. about her well-being or what she wants. Her best friend helps her escape the situation.

After Enzo is at the brink of giving up hope at finding his mate, he finally finds her.

I didn’t like Enzo…

Why you ask?

Because I felt like he was doing the exact same thing her parents did. Taking away her voice and choice.

It’s also the same reason why I didn’t like Seven, because she did the same to Enzo, just like her parents did her. Bypassing Enzo’s wants and needs, and strongarming him into a decision he didn’t feel comfortable with.

Upside?

They liked it, she was attracted to him. And he most definitely knew how to put it down in the bedroom.

So, worth it?

Next I picked up a book by new to me author Mrs. J.R. Mason.

I have never been happier to not have any Linda’s in my life.

Really!! I don’t know how I would cope with that. Thankful as well that HOA is not an issue, and ample space between houses on Curaçao is something that exists.

And I’ll be picking up another book of her, because did you know Mrs. Mason uses some elements of her life to inspire her works?

I don’t know how she does it, and I have to applaud Mrs. Mason’s patience because…

Just Lucky ‘N Love by Mrs. Skye Moon

After I went and picked up another book by a new to me author, Mrs. Skye Moon.

Let me preface this one for those who haven’t yet caught on. I get annoyed easily 😅

Having said that, Love was doing the most!

That “boyfriend” being married, she was justified in her emotions, however I felt each and every word her mother told her. The way she decided to handle that situation, landed her where she was at that moment.

And letting someone who has demonstrated that he really doesn’t give one iota about you, ruin your happy?

Luck was better than me!

She got herself together in the end though 😅.

Passenger Princess 2 by Mrs. Lakia

Mrs. Lakia dropped the finale to Passenger Princess

Where Mrs. Lakia, left us in the first installment, my list of people in need of handling was somewhat minimal. With the top spot being occupied by…

Junior!

The finale made sure the list grew for me, however they all got handled beautifully!

And Junior’s ultimate demise was even better.

After the finale I made sure to make use of Mrs. Lakia’s paperback book sale, which she extended till the 31st of March.

Another new to me author Mrs. Nia Forrester, who put me into an awkard situation with the Wanderer.

Because what do you mean finding love while married?

And here I sat, reading..  The intricacies, the emotions, the feelings of not being accepted, feeling like you need to settle.

There were a lot of layers to this read, that made it easier for me to digest what happened in this read.

And that is also why I felt I got put into an awkard situation, because had the wife looked more like me I would’ve been like…

But she didn’t, and the language of oppression used by her, combined with the parents, really had me like

Like I Said…

And another One! This time a new to me author who writes Paranormal, Mrs. Blk Qween.

I had this read on my TBR since somewhere last year, and when I tell you that I was kicking myself for not picking it up sooner?!

But then again, maybe it was a good thing… Because me and patience have never seen eye to eye. And I’ll only have to wait a bit less than 3 months…

No biggie…

I am still in need of someone to discuss this with. Because this was a lot.

I am firmly #teamNicky #teamGabriel, because Clarence was just trifling all the way.

SheReadsaLot to Clarence:

You claim to love Gabriel more than your first Queen, who you never cheated on. But here you are, every time I turn around adding another infraction to the covenant you hold so dear, and on top of that you break your promises, you’re a liar, being hypocritical, and overbearing.

Better yet… Just queue up 🎵 Profyle’s Liar 🎵

Because, please can somebody show me where the good man is in the room? ‘Cause I’ve been looking each and every time somebody said that Clarence is a good Vampire/Man, and I…

Safe to say I’ve been bitten, and need to pick up more of Mrs. Qween’s books!!

Heart of a Thug: Omar and Keisha’s Tale by Mrs. Keely

And my last new to me author this week was Mrs. Keely, I later found out she wasn’t only new to me. This, Heart of a Thug: Omar and Keisha’s Tale, was also her author debut. Once again congratulations 💐

Mrs. Keely came swinging out the gate!

This was an urban fiction, but the overall themes for me were domestic abuse/violence awareness and mental health awareness. Both Omar and Keisha had dealt/were still dealing with traumatic events.

Them both not having properly dealt with this, it became visible in their actions and the way that they communicated with each other.

However the drama (a lot of their own making 😅), action, suspense, and spice, had me on the edge of my seat.

I really need to know what will happen in the next installment, and also hoping they learn to communicate with each other 🤣.

Crowning Anora by Mrs. Tessa Stone

While I was getting acquainted with some new to me authors Mrs. Tessa Stone had an unexpected early release.

The ‘zon stays playing fast and loose with these release dates 👀.

However, I was not complaining! Because I got to go back to Wintermoon.

In Crowning Anora I got the conclusion that I didn’t know that I was in need off. After Loving Amir, I wasn’t really a fan of his because I found him to be selfish, not in the bedroom though!

So seeing him open up, take accountability, stepping up?

Not the spiders though!

Me and spiders don’t mix.

I closed out my week with Mrs. Joonie P.

I first got to know of Mrs. Joonie P. when she was searching for ARC readers for Dante’s Possession. My thoughts on the characters can be found here.

So when she was in search for new ARC readers, this time for Possessed a revamped and extended story of Dante’s Possession, I was first in line!

Because I didn’t like not one of the characters. I went in semi-open minded. Because again, I didn’t like NOT one of the characters.

After reading the first 6 chapters, I was starting to feel a little bit of compassion for Zonima.

That little bit of compassion went straight out of the window in chapter 7

Had me actually like, did that just happen some chapters further, and had me saying WTF a few chapters before the end up until the end of the book, where I was like…

Possessed had me mindblown, because I really didn’t see it coming.

Now I’ll be hoping that I get to ARC read again for her, so I can have early access…

Because you know…

Me and patience don’t see eye to eye

Possessed will become available on the 19th of May. However if you want to hear a preview, head on over to Mrs. Joonie P.’s site www.jooniep.com

That was it for this week. Hope to see you here again next week!
