Week in Review – W14

As always before we dive into my week in review, I’ll be taking a small amount of time out to once again express my appreciation for all the authors that I’ve read this week.

Your time, efforts, and dedication to your expression of art are seen, AND

Some stats about my week

  • I completed 10 books this week
  • by 9 different authors (1 new to me)
  • totaling 2.169 pages
  • making it around 217 pages per book
  • averaging 309.9 pages read per day

Overview of the Books read

Opening up my week was Mrs. Grey Huffngton, who released the fourth installment in the Grey List series. This time the focus was on Roulette.

I usually tend to gush about the MMC. Not so much this time, I mean he was fine or whatever… BUT ROULETTE?? She stole the show for me. The way she was a TRUE Girls’ girl? Not talking down on any other woman. Addressing the men when they F’ up, instead of the woman…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: She would’ve been very much justified in her reaction however!

SheReadsaLot: I hear what you’re saying, jumping into bed with your boss’s man? The boss that you look up to?

SheReadsaLot: I mean…. It is a choice!

Uplifting women when they were not operating in their divine feminine, or needed a circle?

Roulette was just everything for me, and she was unapologetic about who she was/is.

Loved to see it!

Mrs. Briyanna Michelle had a release, but I hadn’t yet picked up the first book in her Undeniably In Love standalone series about triplets, who all are pro athletes.

It was only right for me to read this series in order.

Maybe I Need You turned up the spice! I mean Graycen and Camille didn’t care where they were, they were gonna get it in!!

Maybe I Love You was all about the love. Because the way that Donovan even with his unrequited feelings, showed true care and support for his Ivory was *chef’s kiss*.

Seeing Stephen, Simone, Accacia/Vera getting their just due, was the cherry on top!

The Brasi Family by Mrs. Jatoria C.

Mrs. Jatoria C. released the Brasi Family (Dark Mafia Romance), first introduced in Mason Neiman. Knowing that Mason was a teensy tiny bit unhinged, and Navy is his best friend?

I should’ve known that Navy wouldn’t be all there.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: What are you humming?

SheReadsaLot: Marli belongs to Navy. Navy is Marli’s everything, No one can please Marli like Navy can. Marli belongs to Navy. Navy is Marli’s everything, No one can please Marli like Navy can.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Oh my, he got you too huh?

SheReadsaLot: Let’s just not answer that question, shall we?

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: When it didn’t had to do with Marli, he was actually quite rational and his moral compass was really on point!

SheReadsaLot: That’s what I’m saying, they really did deserve what they got!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Wondering how unhinged the rest of the Brasi Family will turn out to be?

SheReadsaLot: We’ll find out with her next release! Because you know who will be there for it?

One for Two by Mrs. ML Bash
One for Two by Mrs. ML Bash

45 Black Romance authors released FREE books with the Book Baes and Heas Black Romance Exclusive Promotion. The first book I picked up was by Mrs. ML Bash. I love me some Mrs. Bash, AND I love her even more when she pens a why choose!

And this, One for Two, was exactly that!

When you trade in an idiot, for not one? But TWO people who truly have your best interest at heart, and shower you with the love that you have been missing?

I’d call that leveling up!

Mrs. Aubry J. released Hoop Session, about Mercy DeCorte and Givens.

Sometimes books will make me feel very wishy washy. This was one of them!

Because of course you can’t off your trifling baby mama/baby daddy…

That’s just not something that you do!

And here I was hoping Givens would do just that!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: I understand you in this case though… That baby mama was straight from the darkest pits of hell!!

SheReadsaLot: Wasn’t she though?

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: She was, you remember finding out that…

SheReadsaLot: Now that’s what we not gonna do, if they want to know why we agree on that part, let them go and pick up the book!

SheReadsaLot to Audience: And if you do pick it up?! let me know why I was justified in my thinking, please and thank you!

Back to the Book Baes and Heas I went, because I mean there were 45 authors! Mrs. Kimmie Ferrell‘s Ash’s Tale (Romance with a matchmaking-slash-date-for-hire trope) was my next pick.

And Ash’s energy was truly electrifying, I mean a M-A-N!

The way he took charge, without being overbearing?

If Mrs. Ferrell was to write more about him?

Can’t say I’d mind!

Third book in the Book Baes and Heas was courtesy to Mrs. K.C. Mills, Heart Acquired (Romance with a one sided enemies to lovers trope).

I just love the way Mrs. Mills writes her men. When Azien told Halani:

“If my lady is worried about what people think about her position, then I need to do a better job of making her feel secure in her spot.”

Mrs. Charity Shané was the last book I picked up from the Book Baes and Heas (for this week). This one really had me scratching my head for a minute, because the MC’s were both in relationships.

How do they end op together when they are both plus one’s to a high school reunion?

Well, I found out! And I’m happy they did too 👀.

And especially that she said yes, because any one who appreciates you as you are with words like these:

“The perfect hourglass with a few extra minutes where I like them.”

Candid Moments by Mrs. Charity Shane

AND backs it up with his actions? Deserves a resounding YES!

I closed out my week with new to me author Mrs. Rotunde Samantha Borerwe.

A while back I came across a post from an author unknown to me, in search of ARC readers.

The premise appealed to me… I mean it felt as if she was speaking directly to me when I read:

“…a political fantasy romance filled with slow-burn tension, betrayal, and dangerous magic. If you love strong female characters, court intrigue, and heroines who refuse to be controlled, this is for you”

Mrs. Rutendo Samantha Borerwe

So I applied, AND I GOT ACCEPTED!!

Only for me not to see the ARC when it was sent out, because it landed in my promotions instead of my primary inbox…

I rectified that right away however!

When Mrs. Borerwe said that this was a political fantasy romance? She wasn’t kidding!

All the court intrigue, the way they were making their moves, how the parents used their children as pawns.

Every time I thought I had a grip on the players? Another one popped up!

“There are so many players in this game of power, and we’re not the only ones scheming”

Shadows of the Crimson Crown by Mrs. Rotunde Samantha Borerwe

There were some heartbreaking revelations in regards to betrayals, and some I didn’t see coming!

The intricacies of the court and the games they play kept me locked all the way in! Add in the rivalries, MAGIC, and the budding feelings between Amina and Khyran?

And I was, and am…

Mrs. Borerwe’s Shadows of the Crimson Crown releases on the 5th of may, and is available for pre-order through the following link:
