Overview of the Books read

Week Opener

The Brasi Family II by Mrs. Jatoria C.

I opened this week with Mrs. Jatoria C.‘s finale of the Brasi family, The Brasi Family II: The Finale

You should already know that if Mrs. Jatoria C. is involved it can get a bit dark.

Add to it the Brasi Family?

And it’s about to be crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious!

This time we got to know about Quill Brasi, MMC, neurosurgeon, knows what he wants, and goes for it.

“Get her pregnant. Don’t let her get away.”

C., Jatoria. The Brasi Family 2: The Finale. Cole Hart Signature, LLC. Kindle Edition.

Quill:

And Niecy, FMC, renowned attorney with her own money, but knows how to appreciate a gift.

Also, why in the hell would I send the money back? I have my own money and unless I need something, I wouldn’t ask for it. That doesn’t mean I will return any money you send to me. In a court of law, the money would be considered a gift among two willing participants. I like gifts.

C., Jatoria. The Brasi Family 2: The Finale. Cole Hart Signature, LLC. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to Audience: I had me some laughs along the way, and have to say for as far as Mrs. C’s characters go, notwithstanding his eating habits, Quill was very much on the lighter side of unhinged.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Maybe it’s best to let the audience decide for themselves, because

… It didn’t matter who I had to kill. I did evil things … I would continue to do evil things …

C., Jatoria. The Brasi Family 2: The Finale. Cole Hart Signature, LLC. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: He would sound unhinged, because you removed the complete context!

SheReadsaLot to Audience: Read for yourself, because he really wasn’t that bad on the Mrs. C. scale of unhingedness. Do be mindful of your triggers however!

SheReadsaLot at SheReadsaLot:

Sweet Love From Saturn by Mrs. Cocoa Myles

After that I went for something a bit sweeter and lighter with Mrs. Cocoa Myles‘ latest release Sweet Love From Saturn.

This was a low drama, low tension romance taking place in a small town.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: We needed that, because we’ve been on ten for a while now.

SheReadsaLot:

We get to know Saturn, FMC, who inherited the flower shop of her late grandmother. However her clientele dwindled some during her bereavement, and now she is trying to get back on top. Even though the pressure of honoring her late grandmothers vision becomes a bit much for her.

McCoy, MMC, recently moved to Pleasant Spring, still recovering from a break up he is not necessarily looking for love when he has an encounter with Saturn.

That encounter leaves a bit to be desired, but you know what beats a first impression?

A second!

SheReadsaLot: Which we enjoyed!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot: Okay, Okay! I’m not lying though! We did enjoy this story… We just got a bit annoyed with Saturn!

SheReadsaLot to Saturn: I mean McCoy didn’t pick up his phone one time, and now he isn’t all that anymore?!

SheReadsaLot to Audience: Saturn worked my nerves with her dramatic behavior!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: And why was that? Be honest with your audience!

SheReadsaLot to Audience: It could be… I’m not completely sold on this theory however… That I saw a teensy tiny bit of myself in her behavior… And I…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Now, don’t you feel better?

SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Didn’t feel great seeing your action’s mirrored?

SheReadsaLot: In hindsight, she wasn’t that bad!

SheReadsaLot: She acknowledged when she went overboard, and course corrected. That should count for something right?

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: It’s okay! It’s okay… What did Mrs. Cocoa tell you?

“Everybody comes with something 😩.
She’s just a girl 😂”

Mrs. Cocoa in the DM’s

SheReadsaLot: Yes, we all have room for growth!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot:

Emergence and Ascendance by Mrs. K.C. Mills

I picked up Mrs. K.C. Mills‘s latest release, Emergence and Ascendance, book three in the Collective

“Do you know how many ways I can make you cum without penetrating you?” “No, Sir.” The words rushed out on a breathy exhale and I smirked.

Mills, K.C.. Emergence and Ascendance (The Collective Book 3). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Okay, now back up a lil bit. Let’s start off with the characters.

About Scotlyn Whitney,

fighting to come up out under the controlling behaviours of her father, who treats her differently

“Because I don’t have a d*ck.”

Mills, K.C.. Emergence and Ascendance (The Collective Book 3). Kindle Edition.

And Christian Deveraux,

who after wasting  years in a marriage with a spiteful woman, has found a way to take his control back.

Her eyes slowly peeled open, hazy and unfocused, but she smiled and I chuckled. “Color?” She exhaled a shaky breath. “Green, Sir.” I nodded and reached between her thighs, stroking her softly.

Mills, K.C.. Emergence and Ascendance (The Collective Book 3). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: You sure are sharing a lot of the spicier content, aren’t you!

SheReadsaLot: I sure am, and let me tell you why!

  1. The Spice was spicing!
  2. It had me captivated
  3. The care in all the interactions shone through
  4. The Spice was S-P-I-C-I-N-G!
  5. It had me CAPTIVATED!

Audience to SheReadsaLot: There is some repetition there

SheReadsaLot: Sure is!

The spice wasn’t the only thing keeping my attention however as this was about new beginnings and love, with mature main characters. It dealt with complicated family dynamics, finding your footing again after a divorce, and opening yourself up to love.

SheReadsaLot: And again!

Her eyes stayed on mine while I delivered steady thrusts. “Such a good girl. Taking all of me and giving me your throat.”

Mills, K.C.. Emergence and Ascendance (The Collective Book 3). Kindle Edition.

Craving Carla by Mrs. Tessa Stone

Mrs. Tessa Stone had released Craving Carla, first book in her Wintermoon Vampire tales. that I got to pick up on the day of.

I realised a while back that books that leave room to learn, irregardless of subject, always resonate more with me somehow.

And that is exactly what Mrs. Stone offered me this go round through Amari, MMC, Moor, vampire turned in the late 14th century, having to bear witness to the destruction of his civilisation.

“They destroyed the greatest center of learning in the western world. Eight hundred years of knowledge. Of progress.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

Which impacts him deeply.

“History matters, Carla. Those who ignore it are doomed to repeat its mistakes. And right now, we’re seeing the same patterns take shape— fear breeding hatred, hatred breeding violence.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot:

And I’ll always root for those who aren’t seen or treated unjustly, which this time is Carla, FMC, mother of spiders, protector to Wintermoon (and so much more). Who at the heart is just a person wanting to experience romantic love.

I love my children, would die for them without question, but I want to know what love feels like. Real romantic love, the earth-shattering, universe-aligning kind that makes people write terrible poetry and do stupid things in the name of devotion.

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

Where usually we have two Main Characters, special mention should be made of Carla’s children.

My children will understand that humans can’t appreciate them, but supernatural rejection cuts deeper. They expect better from our own kind.

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot:

And yes this read dealt with a lot of heavy themes, and arachnids.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: When we encounter one, we will usually be like…

SheReadsaLot: But these arachnids had me laughing out loud at their antics, Kemnebi being chief among them.

I’m going to break his legs, that fucking traitor. And this little shit has the nerve to send me an image spelling out the word “whore.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Amari was a bit liberal with his ding-a-ling

SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to Audience: Amari is however more than his sexcapades.

He is not at all humble!

Amari:

“Would you prefer I pretend to be humble? Should I hang my head low, apologize for my power, minimize my achievements? Would that make me more appealing to you?”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to Audience: And he is exactly who he thinks he is!

Carla:

I’ve never met anyone like him before. Someone who looks at my children— these creatures that most people find terrifying— and sees beauty instead of monsters. Someone who sees them as extensions of me rather than something separate and frightening.

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: And he is wise!

He shakes his head firmly. “It’s more complex than that. Silence is far more of a betrayal than doing it outright.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to Audience: My apologies I ventured a bit of course. Back to Carla’s children. Who got a HEA as well.

“You may stand down and play with them.” Kemnebi and Moria scuttle eagerly toward the soldiers, who have clearly been waiting for this moment. One pulls a ball from his pocket and bounces it, and my children immediately join in the game. Medina Shadow has embraced them completely…

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

And Mrs. Stone delivering us a message through Carla’s selfdiscovery journey, always is the cherry on top for me!

“Carla, you don’t have to beg. You were born a Queen. When you realize that, that is when the veil will lift. It is not your children holding you back.” She points directly at me. “It is you. Stop begging to sit with people who are beneath you. You have a throne. They do not.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Favorite scene?

SheReadsaLot and SheReadsaLot:

“I’ve given up my life, my freedom to the shadows because the world won’t accept me,” she continues, … “But now you want to take the one good thing that’s come to me besides my children?” … “FUCK THAT.”

Stone, Tessa. Craving Carla: A Dark Vampire Romance (Wintermoon Vampire Tales Book 1). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to Audience: Simply put?

Gold by Mrs. Sarafini

I picked up Gold Mrs. Sarafini, after seeing Mrs. _groovyg_reads reactions on her post about Gold

I decided to up this on my TBR. And let’s just say, I truly got her reactions.

Gold is about Gold, FMC, her friends (all young twenties), and their relationships (early thirties).

This was all messy!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot:

And all of the characters had things I couldn’t really get behind.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: There was a lot of cheating going on!

SheReadsaLot:

A lot of judgmental people!

Tiffany was pissed, to put it plainly but decided to bite her tongue. There was something about that Gold chick and anyone associated with her, i.e., India—that gave her a bad vibe. Tiffany made a mental note to tell her friends to watch the little whores around their husbands.

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: She wasn’t exactly wrong though!

SheReadsaLot: She wasn’t right either.

Rich gave her a pass because, well, she was his wife, and it was usually some petty shit. But that comment was just unnecessary and…nasty.

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

And for all the grown folks in this story, there was a lot of…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Let the pastor give them a word for a second!

“My, my, my, some of you are not living in your truth! Friends with people you don’t want to be friends with, married to people you don’t want to be married to. Getting up every day, going somewhere you can’t stand the sight of. All of this, and you wonder why you’re sick?

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to Audience: There was a lot of not standing in your truth, and taking steps to better your situations.

“You know the good girl bullshit facade. But you actually the worst kind of girl ’cause you don’t live in your truth and take that shit out on other people.”

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: They weren’t all like that though!

“So the next day, I called Jordan on his lunch and broke up with him.” “Wait!” Gold screeched. “You’re just now telling me this?! … “And how did Jordan handle it?”
“Like a hoe,” India shrugged, not mincing words.

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: Gold and India for all their flaws were the more mature ones in this whole read. Standing in their truths, be it right or wrong.

Gold:

“Obviously, I’m not talking about you and your situation,” Gold asserted, clearing the air. “I’m speaking for me and my life. I don’t give a damn what somebody else decides to do.”

Sarafini. GOLD. Dreamers Express Publishing. Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: The world would be a better place if we learned to do just that!

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Should we elaborate on that statement?

SheReadsaLot: People that want to understand will understand, and those who seek to misunderstand will.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Soooooo…

SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: So what are we going to tell the audience?

SheReadsaLot: To read it of course, what else is there to say?

SheReadsaLot to Audience: This book ends on a TBC, but as far as TBCs go, this is one I could live with as it closes one chapter, and sets us up for another. Which will be released somewhere near the end of this year.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Will we be there?

SheReadsaLot:

Jaeda by Mrs. Kimberly Brown

Mrs. Kimberly Brown released Jaeda, book 4 in the Dillinger Chronicles.

Mrs. Brown mentions that this read will give us a break from the craziness, and drama. And she was right, even though we are still dealing with the Dillingers.

Jaeda, FMC, the oldest female sibling, highly intelligent, into Anime and co-splaying meets her match in Quaid, MMC, highly intelligent, into Anime and co-splaying.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Quaid gave Jaeda everything she asked, or didn’t ask for

“I’ve never asked a man for head, Shar. That’s gonna feel so awkward—” “Why would it be awkward?” I heard behind me.

Brown, Kimberly. Jaeda (The Dillinger Chronicles Book 4). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: Accepted her for who she was and is.

“I’m really not a good dancer,” I confessed to Quaid once we hit the dance floor.
“That’s okay. As long as you can take direction, you’ll be fine. Can you take direction, baby?”

Brown, Kimberly. Jaeda (The Dillinger Chronicles Book 4). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Demanded his respect, and was unapologetically himself

“…Your acceptance of me is a you problem.”

Brown, Kimberly. Jaeda (The Dillinger Chronicles Book 4). Kindle Edition.

SheReadsaLot: Meaning Jaeda or Kitana…

Tender Offer by Mrs. Tanvier Peart

Mrs. Tanvier Peart was next for me, with an ARC of Tender Offer, book three in her Chance at Love series

About Madison, FMC, fashionista, stylist, and Preston, MMC, hotelier, billionaire.

It started off with a disclaimer.

Disclaimer: If you’re my father, aunt, or another loved one who reads every book I write, I gave fair warning about this one. There’s some freak behavior in here. If you don’t want to read the spicy scenes, it would behoove you to stay away from the following chapters:

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Shopping list, that was a shopping list to everything nice!

SheReadsaLot:

Invoked some nostalgia

How does Sarah Jessica Parker skip across Manhattan in Manolos and still look cute?

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: How did she do that indeed? Effortlessly?

Characters over 30!

A FMC who knows how to make the right decisions.

When life presents you with a choice between a fashion internship in Paris or renting a house with your raggedy, unbrushed ex, choose Paris every time.

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Not always though!

Cheaters are awful in my book, but here I am acting like a pick-me girl with no home training.

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

SheReadsaLot: She did get blinded a lot all for acceptance, and ticking of the box of being in a relationship/married. Ultimately settling for scraps.

I knew he wasn’t the one when we first met, but I prioritized decent sex over seeing enough writing on the wall to fill the Louvre.

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

Inner dialogues that had me laughing unexpectedly.

Her fingertips trace the rings around her rosebud nipples, which are pointed at me like double barrels of a gun. “That’s nice.” Does she expect me to praise her surgeon?

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Because what did she expect would happen, really?!

And vivid descriptions

It takes the strength of my grandmother not to scowl at the plate set in front of me. My brother is truly an ass for choosing a restaurant that serves bubbles. “Tofu and oyster foam,” the waiter says with a proud nod.

Tanvier Peart, ARC Tender Offer

I got surprised by some plot twists, frustrated by some other actions (and slight side-eyeing as well 😅), was appreciative of the true friends like Tammi, who support you while holding you accountable.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Verdict?

SheReadsaLot to Audience: All in all I appreciated, and enjoyed, this story because it wasn’t only a romance, it was a story about giving yourself grace and healing.

Week Closer

Love’s Last Song by Mrs. N.A. Sabreen

New to me author Mrs. N.A. Sabreen, was my last post for this week with her debut Love’s Last Song

Micah, FMC, singer, had herself a D-A-Y!

Today I called off my engagement to My fiancé, Mark Kirk, after I found him in bed with a random woman. Not only that, but I also received a direct message from a woman trying to ‘Barbara this is Shirley’ me, with pictures of her swallowing my man’s dick.

Sabreen, N.A.. Love’s Last Song

That day, continues to spill over in the rest of her days, but Si-ere, MMC, producer, is there to help her through it.

I perused his body with my eyes. Si’ere stood there shirtless, his body carved to perfection, like a Greek god. My throat went dry as I glanced at every woman’s downfall – grey sweats – Si’ere’s d*ck print was definitely printing. “You done?” Si’ere said with a smirk.

Sabreen, N.A.. Love’s Last Song

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: They most definitely know what they are doing, don’t they!

SheReadsaLot: They most definitely know!

I was in suspense for the better part of this read, because like I said. Her day spilled over in a lot of more days. Having me questioning…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: When is the right time to make your partner an authorised user on your account?

SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Questions that need answers!

SheReadsaLot: I would say never… or at least after saying I do! Because… I….

In the end however it all ended happily. And the quote I’m taking with me to close out this week will be the following.

When the darkness tries to consume you, find your own light.

Sabreen, N.A.. Love’s Last Song

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: That sure is a message!

And we’ve come to the end of this Week in Review!

Looking forward to what next week will bring, and hope to see you there!
