Week Opener

I opened this week with
The Loyal Wife and The Devoted Husband by Mrs. B. Love
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Tell them what they can expect from this read?
SheReadsaLot to Audience:

I want to tell you what you can expect, but I can’t tell too much either, because that would mean that I would spoil the plot.
So let me tell you at least this. Expect the unexpected, expect a level of toxicity, expect suspense, expect a “good” time, and people who are willing to go the mile for those they love or to remain with those they love.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: What stuck with you the most?
SheReadsaLot: So we knew that things weren’t as they seemed.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: You’re right… we did!

SheReadsaLot: However what stuck to me… Was that I had to agree with the person that was just a bit more insane than the rest of the characters.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Was he though? He was the only one, who could at least fall back on a diagnosis, and outside of the stalking that he did.. He had a point!

SheReadsaLot: Sure did! Because for him to be her Best Friend? He did her soooo dirty… I would’ve done…

Leading me to, know your worth, and make sure that you receive exactly that or more… Because…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Recommend?
I’m here talking about it, so it is for sure a yes! These reads gave me the toxic fix, suspense, and mystery I was in need of! So a special shout out to Miss Lady for putting me on!

I followed that up with
Holiday Hat Trick by Mrs. Dandridge Monroe
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Tell them what they can expect from this read?
Mrs. Monroe standing on business!
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: In what way?
Those that are familiar with her writing know, that she centers the Black lived experience, and is adamant that she won’t write about pink peen, nor center them in her books.
SheReadsaLot to Audience: And that’s exactly what she does in this quick read, where Mrs. Monroe gives us little insights into the relationships of three couples. One being an IR couple.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: So if we are delving into an IR couple, isn’t Mrs. Monroe writing about pink peen?
SheReadsaLot: Nope..

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: What stuck with you the most?
If there is one thing Mrs. Monroe is going to do, is keep it Black, and keep her word.
Mrs. Monroe:

Even though the first couple was an IR relationship (Tiana and Parker) Parker was only told through the lense of Tiana. That man didn’t have a single thought in this book.
SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to Audience: And this is EXACTLY why I love Mrs. Monroe

What can I say! I love when people stand on business about their morals, values, and integrity.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Recommend?
It’s Mrs. Monroe, I’m posting about it, so it’s a

Mrs. Monroe gives us some nuggets of wisdom, as always, laughs, Black Love, and also some more information on where the couples are at the moment.
This read is best enjoyed by reading the complete Desperados series as Tiana and Parker are side characters throughout this series, Aphrodite and Antoine’s love story can be found here, and Sterling and Money’s love story can be found here
The Softest Love Came From a Thug by Mrs. Lakia
was next!
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Tell them what they can expect from this read?
Two characters dealing with the mental toll of life. One being a woman, who decides that enough is enough after having been belittled for years by her husband, and now finds herself a single mother. And one being a man who finds himself having to deal with the death of the love of his life due to police brutality, and public opinion.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: People are quick to judge without having all the facts don’t they…
SheReadsaLot: And quick to reject the facts when it doesn’t fit their narrow mold.

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: What stuck with you the most?
It’s important to have community, and people who are willing to see you for who you truly are.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Recommend?
Yes! This is a heavier read, dealing with drug addiction (side character), mental health, grief, and having to co-parent with an unwilling party, On the flip side, you’ll see people stepping up, and lots of love.

Week Closer

Rise and Fall series by Mrs. A.E. Valdez
is how I decided to close this week.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Tell them what they can expect from these reads?
Stories around finding yourself after feeling like you’ve lost yourself in or after a relationship be it romantic or platonic. Building yourself up, friendship, and healing of bonds broken through overstepping of boundaries. Be mindful of possible triggers like loss of a parent, abandonment, adultification, and cancer.
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: What stuck with you the most?
SheReadsaLot: These reads deal with heavier themes, so when a particular scene took place…
SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot:Are we talking about that scene between Asher and Marisa?
SheReadsaLot: Ma’am Asher really said, I don’t care you just pity Fvcked Ol’ boy let me taste you!

And…

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Well… sometimes consensual sexual liberation between adult parties is exactly what the doctor ordered!
SheReadsaLot:

SheReadsaLot to SheReadsaLot: Recommend?
Yes, I’d recommend each and every book in this series! Miss Frien told me that this is one of her favorite series, and I understand exactly why. As Mrs. Valdez took her time in each book to develop the characters, their backstory, their journey, and relationship.

And that is how we’ve come to the end of this Week in Review! We’ll see what next week will bring us.
